North Side
To drive north, turn left at Waterlands Village onto the main road towards Kralendijk.
Our Tip: you can download the map of Bonaire on your phone via google maps or maps.me so that you can also navigate offline to all the stops on this route.

Kralendijk
About a ten-minute drive from Watervilla Blou Bonaire you will find the cozy town of Kralendijk, the capital of Bonaire. When you navigate to Wilhelminaplein you will come across some parking spaces. You do not have to pay to park anywhere. There are also no traffic lights on the island. Wilhelminaplein forms the center of Kralendijk. The most important streets of the town are Kaya Grandi, the main shopping street with the colorful monumental buildings and Kaya J.N.E. Craane. The latter forms the boulevard along the water with some shops, but especially restaurants and cafes. From here you also have a view of the harbor where the cruise ships also dock. Stroll around or eat an ice cream at Gio’s. Also take a look at Fort Oranje. If you feel like visiting a museum; in the Terramar Museum you can learn everything about the history of Bonaire and the Caribbean region.

Number Ten
For a delicious cup of coffee, your breakfast or lunch you have to be at Number Ten in Kralendijk. You can sit outside or cool down inside in the air conditioning. They have a very extensive menu with delicious dishes but also delicious pastries. The famous rainbow cake not only looks fantastic, but is also super tasty. Our tip: Choose the potato salad as a side dish with your sandwich, bagel or wrap, it is delicious!

Chogogo Beach Resort
A little further north you will come across the Chogogo Beach resort. A beautiful resort on a beautiful beach where you can snorkel really well. There is also a swimming pool with lazy river. You can buy a day pass to stay here for a day, but you can also make a reservation at one of the restaurants. For example, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Bari Beach Bar. If you have something to celebrate or just feel like dining extensively, reserve a spot at Bîna. Here you can enjoy the most delicious dishes, while the sun sets beautifully. Our tip: go for a surprise menu from the chef.

1000 steps
When you continue your way north, you will find yourself on a beautiful road with fantastic sea views. You will pass the snorkeling and diving beaches Andrea I and II and a little later you will reach the beach 1000 steps. A truly beautiful bay that you reach by taking a staircase down. Fortunately, the staircase is not really 1000 steps. The beach owes its name to the fact that it feels like 1000 steps to enter the beach with your diving gear on. You can also snorkel beautifully at this beach and turtles can be found very regularly.

Gotomeer
Further north you will come across a turnoff to the right towards Rincon. You do not take this yet, but you will drive straight ahead for a while along another super beautiful stretch of coast. At the next turnoff you do turn right and you will drive along the Gotomeer. The Gotomeer is a saltwater lake, it is located in the Washington Slagbaai park. You will come across a beautiful viewpoint with benches. At the lake you will often find flamingos. It is a beautiful area.

Rincon
If you continue driving, you will reach the cultural village of Rincon. This is the oldest village of Bonaire and also the oldest slave village of the Netherlands Antilles. In the center of Rincon you will find, in addition to two churches, the traditional Cadushy distillery. Here a liqueur is made from cactus, but also whisky, rum, vodka, tequila and gin. You can also taste and buy the different liqueurs that are made here.
Our tip: eat in at Kos Bon So, a local restaurant that often also has live music.
After this you can drive back to Watervilla Blou Bonaire, but you can also take the exit to Seru Largu. From this hill you have a beautiful view of Kralendijk and Klein Bonaire, this is especially beautiful during sunset.
